Linde Hansen Contrarian Value Fund

Launched by Former Lord Abbett Partners

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – The Linde Hansen Contrarian Value Fund (Class A shares: LHVAX, and Class I shares: LHVIX) has been launched.

Its investment objective is to provide investors with long-term growth of capital, with income as a secondary objective. Co-managers Edward K. von der Linde and Howard E. Hansen, former partners at Lord, Abbett & Co., will use their disciplined, contrarian value strategy to invest in equities traded on U.S.-based exchanges to build a concentrated, long-only portfolio. The Fund will generally hold between 20 to 40 securities.

“We will implement our fundamental, bottom-up research approach to find undervalued securities that are inexpensive relative to earnings power and have potential for profitability improvement,” said von der Linde. “By buying them at a discount to their intrinsic value, while at the same time expecting them to increase their profits, we’re able to help control downside risk, and hopefully generate strong returns over time.”

According to Hansen, “In order to invest in companies not currently reflecting their true earnings potential, we will generally find those that are consensually out of favor and not expected to financially recover. We see this as an opportunity to invest at a discount, when fundamental analysis supports the case.”

Prior to forming Linde, Hansen & Co. in 2009, von der Linde was a partner and director of Mid-Cap Value Equities through mid-2008 at Lord, Abbett & Co., which he joined in 1988. Previously, he was an equity analyst at New York Life Insurance. He earned a BA in International Relations from Lake Forest College and an MBA from New York University.

Before forming Linde, Hansen & Co., with von der Linde, Hansen was a partner and portfolio manager through 2008 at Lord, Abbett & Co., which he joined in 1995. Previously, he was an equity analyst at Alfred Berg, Inc., Tiger Management, and Kidder, Peabody & Co. He earned a BS in Economics from Clarkson University, an MBA from Columbia University, and is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
